Empowering Villages: How DailyGurus is Transforming Lives with Technology and Tradition in Red Hills, Thiruvallur, and Beyond

In the vibrant villages of Red Hills, Thiruvallur, Mosur, Kothagiri, and Hosur, where the cycle of life is intimately connected to the rhythm of the seasons, the stories of farmers and women have long been woven with threads of resilience and perseverance. For generations, these communities have battled the challenges of a subsistence lifestyle, with each day bringing its own set of trials.

Farmers, often working on modest plots of land, faced the grueling routine of securing buyers for their produce. The task of harvesting, packing, and transporting their crops to distant mandis was a process fraught with uncertainty and financial strain. The journey to the mandi in the dead of night, the constant haggling for a fair price, and the heavy toll of commissions and transportation costs often left them with far less than they deserved. For instance, a farmer producing 100 bunches of greens per day might earn 1,000 INR, but after deducting the costs of commissions and freight, his net income could drop to just 860 INR.

Similarly, the women in these villages, whose contributions were essential to the agricultural process, found themselves locked into a cycle of seasonal work with limited pay. Whether harvesting brinjal or weeding fields, their earnings were meager, and their employment opportunities were sporadic. During the brinjal season, a woman might earn 400 INR per day for 35 days, amounting to just 14,000 INR annually. The rest of the year, she would turn to lower-paying jobs, bringing her total yearly income to around 49,000 INR, all while enduring long hours of labor.

But in these villages, change was on the horizon. When DailyGurus introduced its innovative approach, the lives of these farmers and women began to transform dramatically. No longer did farmers have to rely on the uncertainties of the traditional market system. Instead, a simple phone call the night before would confirm their orders, and by morning, their greens were harvested with confidence. DailyGurus’ executive would arrive at the farm gate, ready to purchase the produce at a fair and consistent price—10 INR per bunch. With 100 bunches a day, the farmer now earned a clear 1,000 INR daily, free from the burden of hidden fees and delayed payments. The predictability of payments every Wednesday brought financial stability, a marked improvement from the past.

For the women of these villages, the impact was even more profound. DailyGurus offered them consistent work with better pay and fewer hours. No longer confined to the whims of seasonal employment, these women now earned 5 INR per bunch of greens they handled—resulting in a daily income of 250 INR for just 4 hours of work. This consistent work throughout the year elevated their annual income to 90,000 INR—a staggering 84% increase from their previous earnings. Moreover, the reduced work hours gave them more time to invest in other activities, such as furthering their education or caring for their families.

But the impact of DailyGurus extends beyond mere financial gains. By integrating blockchain technology into their supply chain, DailyGurus brought a new level of transparency and trust to the process. Every step, from the moment the greens were harvested to their arrival at the market, was tracked and recorded on the blockchain. Consumers could now trace the origins of their food, verifying its journey from farm to table with a simple scan. This not only bolstered the reputation of the farmers and their produce but also strengthened the bond between producers and consumers, creating a community built on trust and mutual respect.

This transformation aligns seamlessly with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-Being, Gender Equality, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Responsible Consumption and Production. By providing fair prices, stable employment, and transparent practices, DailyGurus is actively contributing to the eradication of poverty and hunger in these communities. The empowerment of women through better wages and consistent work is a significant step towards gender equality, while the use of blockchain ensures responsible consumption and production by maintaining the integrity of the supply chain.

In the villages of Red Hills, Thiruvallur, Mosur, Kothagiri, and Hosur, DailyGurus is more than just a business—it is a catalyst for change, redefining the agricultural landscape and offering hope for a brighter, more equitable future. Through the harmonious blend of tradition and technology, these communities are witnessing the dawn of a new era, where the fruits of their labor are truly valued, and their contributions to society are recognized and rewarded.
